New Delhi, Jan 30 (NationPress) World Championship bronze medallist boxer Gaurav Bidhuri urged individuals to adhere to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recommendation to reduce their intake of edible oil by 10 percent to enhance their health and contribute to a fitter nation.
The 31-year-old Bidhuri remarked that PM Modi's 'Fit India Initiative' is timely, given the rising concerns of obesity in the country, which has escalated into a significant issue.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has highlighted the growing problem of obesity in our nation, which is a major concern today. Previously, Modiji launched the 'Fit India Movement'. However, physical fitness alone won't suffice; we must also focus on our dietary choices," Bidhuri expressed to IANS.
Bidhuri, who clinched a bronze medal at the 2017 World Boxing Championships held in Hamburg, Germany, encouraged people to engage enthusiastically in this initiative and ensure its success.
"Today, Modiji suggested that we should decrease our consumption of edible oil by 10 percent to aid in weight loss and improve our fitness levels," stated the acclaimed boxer.
"With Modiji's initiative launched today, it's imperative that we all participate actively to make it a triumph," Bidhuri emphasized, noting that the issue of excess weight is a pressing challenge in society.
"We must strive to reduce our intake of edible oil by 10 percent and work towards making the country a Fit India," concluded Bidhuri, who is only the fourth Indian boxer to earn a medal at the World Boxing Championship.
