Nagpur, Feb 5 (NationPress) The captain of India, Rohit Sharma, stated on Wednesday that the Indian cricket team is still awaiting updates regarding Jasprit Bumrah's injury and his participation in the upcoming Champions Trophy in Dubai.
Bumrah sustained a back injury during the fifth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia. Although he was initially part of the ODI lineup for the series against England, with the expectation that he would be ready for the third match in Ahmedabad, he was later excluded from the revised squad, which saw Varun Chakravarthy being included instead.
On Wednesday, Rohit mentioned that Bumrah is scheduled for several scans in the coming days, which will provide clarity on his availability for the third ODI and the subsequent Champions Trophy.
“We are anticipating the results of several scans, and once we have them, we will gain a clearer understanding of Bumrah's status for the third ODI against England,” Rohit indicated during the pre-match press briefing before the first ODI against England in Nagpur.
What was initially thought to be a minor injury has turned out to be more significant, leading to Bumrah receiving treatment at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. He is currently undergoing necessary treatment there.
