Nagpur, Feb 5 (NationPress) England plans to maintain their aggressive style of cricket in the forthcoming ODI series against India, despite their lack of successful execution in the recent T20I series, which led to a disappointing 1-4 loss.

Captain Jos Buttler stated that the team has embraced the all-out attacking strategy promoted by head coach Brendon McCullum and will persist with this approach in the ODI series and beyond.

"We aim to play in the same manner. Our goal is to apply pressure on the opposition with our batting, as we believe this is the optimal way to secure victories and maximize the potential of our players in the dressing room. Hence, we will reinforce this strategy," Buttler remarked on the eve of the first ODI against India.

Buttler acknowledged that their T20I series loss to India was primarily due to their failure in executing their plans effectively.

"No matter the plan you devise, it is crucial to execute it properly. We performed well in segments during the T20s, but not consistently enough to dominate the matches and achieve favorable outcomes," he explained.

He emphasized, "It is vital that we remain focused and committed to our desired playing style, striving to execute it to the best of our abilities in this instance."

Buttler illustrated his point by referencing the aggressive performance of Australia’s Travis Head during the World Cup final against India in Ahmedabad, where Head scored 137 runs off 120 balls, hitting 14 fours and a six, leading Australia to a six-wicket victory with 42 balls to spare.

"Reflecting on that World Cup, both teams in the final exhibited a highly positive and aggressive brand of cricket. However, it was Travis (Head) who seized the match with his batting. This demonstrates its potential for success," he added.

The England captain also acknowledged the contributions of Rohit Sharma in shaping India’s recent aggressive playing style.

"Rohit deserves significant recognition for his leadership and the way he has propelled India towards this aggressive style of cricket," Buttler stated.

"Therefore, we aspire to do the same, as we believe this approach will provide us with the best chance for positive outcomes," he concluded.
