London, Jan 20 (NationPress) Tottenham Hotspur have brought back forward Dane Scarlett from his loan spell at Oxford United due to the ongoing injury crisis the team is currently experiencing. The young striker had joined the Championship club on loan in August, making 22 appearances and netting four goals during his time there. A product of the Tottenham Academy, Dane made his senior debut for the North London team in November 2020 and has since appeared in 17 matches.
Manager Ange Postecoglou provided an update regarding Dominic Solanke's knee injury following the forward's absence in Spurs' 1-3 defeat to Everton on Sunday. Prior to the match, he indicated that Dom had sustained a minor knee issue during training on Saturday.
"It's a pretty extreme situation; we've lost three significant players since our last game, and currently, we have seven or eight out. Dom’s injury came quite late in training yesterday, from something innocuous. It's just the tough stretch we're going through at the moment. At some point, things will change, and we'll have players returning, but right now, we must deal with the situation, and the responsibility falls on me to guide us through it," said Ange.
He also mentioned that Brennan Johnson and Yves Bissouma have been added to the growing injury list after missing the match at Goodison Park. "It's likely a three to four-week recovery for Johnson, who got injured during the second half against Arsenal. Bissouma took a knock, but we're optimistic he'll be back by next weekend," he added.
Tottenham has been grappling with a severe injury crisis, causing the North London club to drop to 15th place in the Premier League standings.
The following players remain sidelined due to injuries: Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson, Yves Bissouma, Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie, Rodrigo Bentancur, Wilson Odobert, and Timo Werner.
