Raipur, March 17 (NationPress) Actor Vivek Oberoi reflected on the thrilling moment during India's Champions Trophy victory in Dubai on March 9, expressing that the reverberation of the crowd singing "Vande Mataram" with great passion was truly a remarkable experience.
Oberoi, alongside spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, was present at the ICC Champions Trophy final match between India and New Zealand held at the Dubai International Stadium.
"I have a deep appreciation for cricket; it serves as a significant unifier. We all gather to watch India's matches and cheer collectively for our team. After India's victory, the audience in Dubai erupted into singing "Vande Mataram" from the depths of their hearts, and the exhilarating nature of that echo was unparalleled," Oberoi told IANS.
The 48-year-old actor is an avid cricket fan, often attending major cricket events to support Team India. He was also spotted during the group stage match between India and Pakistan, where he had a chance encounter with former Indian cricketer Venkatesh Prasad.
Oberoi even shared a snapshot from the event, posing with Prasad as he reminisced about one of the legendary cricketer's performances.
In his caption, he wrote, "The legend! It was wonderful to see you, Venky Anna, and thank you for your blessings for my son! Who could forget that India-Pakistan match where you dismissed Amir Sohail? Such battles make India-Pakistan encounters unforgettable!"
Actor-businessman Oberoi, co-owner of BNW Developments, served as the title sponsor for the Sachin Tendulkar-led Indian Masters, which clinched the inaugural International Masters League title on Sunday.
The India Masters delivered a stellar all-around performance, defeating Brian Lara’s West Indies Masters to claim the prestigious title in front of nearly 50,000 fans at the SVNS International Stadium in Raipur.
"The International Masters League is an excellent initiative. It’s incredible to see all the legends we grew up watching compete so fiercely," the actor remarked.
