“We appreciate @MoCA_GoI Shri @RamMNK ji for convening a meeting to tackle the issues faced by travelers of Maha Kumbh right after our X post dated January 27. The Honorable Minister, along with Secretary Sh. V. Vualnam, DGCA DG Sh. Faiz Ahmed Kidwai, and senior officials, engaged with airline representatives to assess the availability of air services to Prayagraj from various locations across the nation while ensuring reasonable ticket prices,” stated VHP National Spokesperson Vinod Bansal on X.
Bansal noted that under the ministry's direction, continuous coordination meetings are being organized to guarantee a smooth and enjoyable journey for the millions of devotees attending this significant religious assembly.
“We also recently learned from a section of the media that you have instructed Airlines to reduce flight fares by 50 percent. We are grateful for your endeavors in this regard,” Bansal remarked on X.
In addition, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has established a dedicated customer service center in the Mela vicinity, providing on-site assistance, complaint resolution, and uninterrupted communication services, according to a statement from the Ministry of Communications.
At the Kumbh Mela, pilgrims from various regions are being offered complimentary SIM cards from their respective circles.
If a pilgrim loses or damages their SIM card, they will not have to return to their home state.
BSNL has taken measures to supply SIM cards from all circles nationwide to the Mela area.
“This service is entirely free, enabling pilgrims to effortlessly maintain contact with their families and friends. BSNL has set up a camp office at Lal Road Sector-2, where all communication services are being coordinated,” stated the Ministry.
Furthermore, internet leased lines, Wi-Fi hotspots, high-speed internet (fibre-to-the-home), webcasting, SD-WAN, bulk SMS services, M2M SIMs, and satellite phone services have also been made available in the Mela area.
“Through this initiative, BSNL is ensuring seamless communication for millions of pilgrims, administrative personnel, security forces, and volunteer organizations, contributing to the smooth execution of the event,” the Ministry added.
