New Delhi, Feb 8 (NationPress) As the Election Commission trends suggested that the BJP was significantly surpassing the halfway mark in the Delhi Assembly elections on Saturday, a cloud of despair settled over the AAP office, while celebrations erupted at the BJP headquarters.
Feeling disheartened by the trends, AAP leaders have refrained from making statements, and their typically active social media platforms remain silent.
Reports indicate that AAP is adopting a wait-and-see strategy to observe the actual results.
Current trends show that AAP’s prominent figures, including Arvind Kejriwal and Atishi, are trailing.
AAP Convenor and former Chief Minister Kejriwal, contesting from the New Delhi Assembly constituency, is falling behind BJP’s Parvesh Verma, while Atishi trails in Kalkaji behind BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri.
Other AAP figures, Satyendar Jain and Saurabh Bhardwaj, are also not leading.
On a more positive note, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is ahead in Jangpura, same as Amanatullah Khan in Okhla and Imran Hussain in Ballimaran.
Previously, Chief Minister Atishi expressed her confidence in AAP's potential return to power, framing the election as a struggle between good and evil. Bharadwaj had even predicted a win of at least 40-45 seats for AAP.
In response to the trends, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari stated: "We see the blessings of Delhi's citizens. We believe that the tally will remain consistent until the end.
Bidhuri remarked that this reflects the people's verdict on Kejriwal's failures and deceptions.
"The empty promises he made over the past decade have been laid bare. Consequently, the AAP will fade, and the BJP will assume power in Delhi," he commented.
The elections for the 70-member Delhi Assembly were held on February 5.
As per the current trends, the BJP is leading in 44 seats, while the AAP is ahead in 26.
