Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 22 (NationPress) Kerala's Minister of Culture, Fisheries, and Films, Saji Cherian, is still radiating joy days after conducting an interview with his idol, the iconic actor Mohanlal. This rare encounter with the 64-year-old superstar has left Cherian ecstatic as he eagerly recounts details from their meeting.
Mohanlal, who is known for being selective about interviews, further enhanced Cherian's excitement by agreeing to be part of a cultural festival in the Minister's Chengannur constituency, located approximately 90 km from the state capital. Cherian, aged 59 and a seasoned member of the CPI(M), has represented Chengannur since 2018 and views this event as a significant achievement.
“I thoroughly enjoyed my interview with Mohanlal,” Cherian expressed to IANS, his face glowing with happiness. “This was a segment dedicated to documenting Kerala's cultural icons, initiated by the Culture Department.”
Cherian elaborated on the effort it took to bring the superstar to Chengannur. “He was shooting in Mumbai but kindly agreed to fly in for the event. His presence greatly enhanced the cultural exhibition, leaving everyone feeling overjoyed.”
The interview was conducted at the home of a friend of Mohanlal in Chengannur. Reflecting on the experience, Cherian remarked, “I posed various questions to him. He’s remarkably insightful, and even when confronted with challenging questions, including ones about my political party, he responded with intelligence and caution.”
During their conversation, Mohanlal spoke openly about his family, his long-time collaborator Antony Perumbavoor, and his illustrious acting career that spans five decades. “He clarified that, contrary to the common belief, he is not a shy person,” Cherian noted.
When questioned about his achievements as an actor, Mohanlal credited a mix of elements for his success. “He considers his talent a divine gift, acknowledges the impact of luck, and appreciates the steadfast support of his wife, son, and daughter,” said Cherian.
Cherian intends to share the interview with the public soon, allowing fans a rare look into the life and insights of one of Kerala’s most revered icons.
