New Delhi, Feb 5 (NationPress) The Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi participated in the Delhi Assembly elections on Wednesday and criticized the ruling administration, asking who is accountable for the "biggest scam" in the national Capital.

Encouraging the citizens of Delhi to fulfill their civic duty, LoP Gandhi expressed via 'X', "Dear brothers and sisters of Delhi, I urge you to cast your votes today. Every vote for Congress will safeguard your rights, fortify the Constitution, and guide Delhi back towards progress."

He further remarked, while mocking the AAP government, "As you vote, consider who is to blame for the polluted air, contaminated water, and damaged roads. Who promised clean politics only to execute the biggest scam in Delhi?"

Earlier, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge also reached out to voters, highlighting the necessity for Delhi's advancement.

"I call upon the esteemed citizens of Delhi to exercise their precious voting rights. Your single vote can embody change in Delhi," Kharge tweeted on 'X'.

Emphasizing the significance of selecting the appropriate representatives, he added, "For Delhi to progress as before, choose individuals who have genuinely contributed to the city. They have not misled you with empty promises."

"Those who have failed to take any action towards improving roads, cleaning water, managing waste, and reducing pollution, yet only offer excuses — consider how much they value your needs before you press the button on the EVM. Those who merely seek to cling to power through deceitful tactics do not deserve your votes."

Kharge also discussed the core values of Delhi, stating, "The essence of Delhi lies in its brotherhood, harmony, prosperity, well-being, and inclusive development. Choose someone who has placed Delhi on the trajectory of growth."

Encouraging first-time voters, Kharge remarked, "I urge our youth, particularly those voting for the first time, to embrace this democratic celebration and actively participate in the voting process. Every requirement will be addressed. The development of Delhi is essential."

Voting commenced across all 70 Assembly constituencies early in the morning and will last until 6 p.m. With nearly 3,000 polling stations categorized as sensitive, security measures have been intensified, deploying 220 paramilitary force companies, 35,626 Delhi Police personnel, and 19,000 Home Guards.

Drone surveillance and Quick Reaction Teams are in place to ensure that the voting process runs smoothly.

The elections will determine whether the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) maintains its supremacy, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) makes a comeback, or the Congress emerges as a robust contender. The results will be announced on February 8.

Campaigning concluded on Monday at 6 p.m. following an intense electoral contest. In the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, AAP achieved a landslide victory, winning 62 out of 70 seats, while BJP secured eight, and Congress did not win a single seat for the second consecutive time.

As voting proceeds, attention is focused on the final turnout and the eagerly awaited electoral results.
