C.T. Ravi Questions Lack of Action on Assault Complaint Amidst Allegations of Police Misconduct
Bengaluru, Dec 22 (NationPress) Karnataka BJP MLC C.T. Ravi recounted the circumstances of his recent arrest and subsequent release related to alleged derogatory comments about Minister for Women and Child Welfare Laxmi Hebbalkar, while raising concerns about the equality of the law and the police's authoritarian behavior towards him.

Bengaluru, Dec 22 (NationPress) Karnataka BJP MLC C.T. Ravi shared the details of his troubling arrest and release pertaining to alleged derogatory remarks about Minister for Women and Child Welfare Laxmi Hebbalkar. On Saturday, he raised the question of whether the law applies equally to everyone while accusing the police of high-handedness against him.

Addressing the press at the BJP State Office "Jagannath Bhavan" in Bengaluru, Ravi stated: "I filed a complaint regarding the assault on me on the night of December 19, yet my FIR remains unregistered. There are videos that substantiate my claim of an assault. Why hasn’t my complaint been recorded? Isn’t the law the same for all?"

"Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's Constitution promises equal opportunities for everyone. However, the government has granted preferential treatment to Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar, which I vehemently oppose," he added.

He recounted, "I was denied water and not permitted to relieve myself. I would greet Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar with respect, asking her how she was and if anything special was happening that day, often jokingly referring to her as Lakshmamma."

Continuing, he remarked: "Regarding the allegations, the Speaker has made a ruling. I have already shared this with the media and will not go into further details; our words are known to our conscience and to the Almighty."

Ravi described subsequent occurrences, including an attack on his vehicle, threats to his safety, and attempts to marginalize him during a dharna.

He acknowledged the support from senior BJP leaders, including Leader of Opposition in the Assembly R. Ashoka and Leader of the Opposition in Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, during this challenging time.

"The BJP legal team in Belagavi and Bengaluru has been diligently working to ensure justice. I appreciate the media for unveiling the hidden agenda of the Congress government," Ravi remarked.

"To my media friends, you have stood by me throughout this ordeal, exposing the Congress government's concealed agenda and sharing the truth with the public. In doing so, you indirectly safeguarded me. I am thankful to all of you," he expressed.

On Thursday, chaos erupted during a heated debate in the Legislative Council when C.T. Ravi allegedly labeled Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi as a "drug addict".

In response, Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar condemned Ravi's remarks, calling him a "murderer".

The BJP leader retaliated by reportedly using an obscene term towards the female minister. Following Minister Laxmi's complaint, the police took MLC Ravi into custody.

However, on Friday, the High Court granted interim relief to C.T. Ravi, ordering his immediate release.
