New Delhi, March 15 (NationPress) Shiv Sena leader Manisha Kayande on Saturday vehemently condemned AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi for his comments regarding Vinayak Savarkar, accusing him of persistently belittling the freedom fighter.
While speaking to IANS, Kayande remarked, "Certain individuals in the nation have developed a tendency to demean Savarkar, creating controversy and damaging his reputation. Owaisi and his party ought to delve into history to regain their senses."
She also highlighted that there is an ongoing case against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi concerning his statements about Savarkar.
Kayande added, "Uddhav ji must clarify that by making such comments, he has distanced himself from the Congress."
Owaisi, who is the President of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) and a Member of Parliament from Hyderabad, had made provocative statements earlier on Friday.
He alleged that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) had treated Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj poorly. Owaisi questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking if he concurred with the ideologies of RSS thinker M.S. Golwalkar.
He stated, "Savarkar and Golwalkar disrespected Sambhaji Maharaj. So, why does the Prime Minister endorse the film 'Chhawa', despite considering Golwalkar his mentor?"
In another political context, Sanjay Raut of Shiv Sena made a controversial comparison of the current BJP government to the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, asserting that the present administration is even more severe.
Manisha Kayande asserted, "Sanjay Raut must have seen the film Chhawa. If he had studied history, he would understand that Aurangzeb was a tyrant. During his reign, anyone who opposed the government had their tongue cut out. Yet today, despite making inappropriate statements, Sanjay Raut remains unharmed. He should revisit history once more."
