Agartala, March 15 (NationPress) In a groundbreaking achievement, nine youths from Tripura have secured jobs in Japan as nursing caregivers. Additionally, 60 more candidates are set to travel to this East Asian nation in the upcoming financial year (2025-26), as per officials' announcements on Saturday.
A government representative from Tripura stated that among the nine successful candidates, three have already commenced their roles as nursing caregivers under the Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) scheme, earning a monthly salary exceeding Rs one lakh. The remaining six candidates are scheduled to join them by July.
Under the Mukhya Mantri Dhakhyata Unnayan Prakalpa (MMDUP), the state Directorate of Skill Development plans to send 60 candidates to Japan for employment opportunities in the fiscal year 2025-26.
The official highlighted that a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between the Indian and Japanese governments has been established to bolster the SSW program. This initiative aims to promote global employment prospects for nursing students, with the Directorate of Skill Development collaborating with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) International to successfully facilitate the recruitment of nursing professionals in Japan.
The SSW scheme offers a new residency status that enables Indian candidates to work in Japan for an extended period. Selected candidates will participate in a full-time, residential Japanese language training and nursing preparation program lasting nine months at a designated institution in Greater Noida. Following successful completion of language examinations, they will be placed in jobs in Japan. This initiative represents a pivotal moment in the state's dedication to skill development and international employment opportunities for its youth. With financial backing from the North Eastern Council (NEC), the chosen candidates completed the nine-month Japanese language training program in Greater Noida.
On Friday, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha honored the six nursing caregivers who secured jobs in Japan.
“Through the Mukhyamantri Dakhyata Prakalpa and the MoC with Japan and Skill Development, Tripura is creating pathways for enhanced opportunities within the global workforce. It’s a moment of pride as our skilled youth take their talents to the international arena!” Saha shared in a post on X.
