Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 8 (NationPress) The Kerala Minister for the General Education Department, V. Sivankutty, declared that a state-owned AI engine will be developed this year, reflecting the increasing impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This initiative aims to train 80,000 teachers and integrate the basics of AI into the ICT textbooks.

The announcement was made during the inauguration of the State Camp of Little KITEs at the ICFOSS campus in Trivandrum, where he also shared that the distribution of 29,000 Robotic Kits in schools, executed by KITE, has been completed.

This project will be led by Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE), adhering to academic guidelines.

KITE is a state-run organization established to enhance, promote, and implement the modernization of educational institutions across Kerala.

A division dedicated to infrastructure has also been established under KITE to improve school facilities.

The scope of KITE encompasses information and communication technology, capacity building, content creation, connectivity, e-learning, satellite-based education, support and maintenance systems, e-governance, and related activities.

The Minister emphasized the need for more companies to follow in the footsteps of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL), Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL), Qburst Technologies, and Canara Bank, which have utilized their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds to enhance access to robotic education for all students in Kerala.

He mentioned that significant issues, such as the problems arising from children’s excessive use of digital devices and the fight against fake news, have been included in the ICT textbooks.

Moreover, he stressed the importance of ongoing vigilance to effectively tackle these challenges.

The current event also includes interactive sessions with leading experts in the field, and as part of the camp, students were given the opportunity to visit industries where they observed and learned about products in areas such as drone technology, assistive technology, 3D printing, weather monitoring systems, media production, and animation.
