Mumbai, Feb 2 (NationPress) It was a deeply touching moment for Bollywood star Sonam Kapoor as she honored the late fashion visionary Rohit Bal during an event in Gurugram.
Numerous videos surfaced on social media showing the actress gracing the ramp at the Blenders Pride X FDCI Fashion Tour 2025. In the footage, Sonam is seen becoming emotional as she welcomed the audience with hands folded.
For this occasion, Sonam donned a white ensemble beneath a heavily embellished long ivory jacket. She styled her hair and adorned it with red flowers, achieving a nostalgic look.
The show was a heartfelt tribute to Rohit, featuring a special runway display that included many notable personalities from diverse fields. Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, fashion designer JJ Valaya, actor Eesha Gupta, actor Rahul Dev, and Mughda Godse also showcased their style on the ramp.
Rohit passed away in New Delhi on November 1, 2024, at the age of 63 due to a heart-related issue. The late fashion icon began his journey alongside his brother Rajiv Bal in New Delhi in 1986 at Company Orchid Oversea Pvt. Ltd and launched his first independent collection in 1990.
Following his passing, a significant controversy arose regarding his Will. The Will became a point of contention between his close friend and former model Lalit Tehlan and Rohit’s family. Sunil Sethi, Chairman of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), appointed as the executor, stated that he aims to ensure transparency and believes that the Will specifies all beneficiaries.
Sunil previously informed IANS that handling Rohit Bal’s (affectionately known as Gudda) will, “came as a surprise” to him.
He expressed, “Despite our close bond, this topic was never discussed between us. Nevertheless, it is crucial that the right process is followed. I’m awaiting further information and details from the legal representatives of both parties involved, Lalit Tehlan and Rohit’s family. After evaluation, we will move forward accordingly. Lalit’s attorney has been in communication, and both parties are eager to review the Will—a medical family emergency has postponed this meeting.”
Sunil has asserted that he has not fully reviewed the Will's details, but some sections have been shared with him. He is set to witness them in the next day or two. This will occur in the presence of both conflicting parties, along with some friends and well-wishers who were close to Rohit.
