New Delhi, Feb 5 (NationPress) The Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav has made serious allegations against the Ayodhya police, claiming they are intimidating voters during the by-elections in Milkipur. He has called on the officials of the Election Commission (EC) to guarantee a fair electoral process.

Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav, expressed his concerns on social media, asserting that the Ayodhya police have been inspecting the ID cards of voters. He labeled this action as an attempt to instill fear and manipulate voter behavior.

In a post shared on the platform X, he stated, "The Election Commission must take immediate notice of the reports indicating that Ayodhya police are checking voters' ID cards in Milkipur, involving senior police officials in the process."

"This represents a democratic violation aimed at indirectly swaying votes through intimidation. Those responsible must be dismissed and face punitive measures."

This claim arises during the ongoing bye-election in Milkipur, which is a significant seat in the Ayodhya district of Uttar Pradesh.

SP MP Awadhesh Prasad has also condemned the ruling BJP, asserting, "The bye-election in Milkipur is taking place today, and the BJP is in such a dire state that they might not even secure their candidate's security deposit."

"Due to this climate of fear, Yogi Baba, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has made multiple visits, yet there has been no impact. Even with 16 ministers and 46 MLAs present for the last three months, there has been no change."

SP leader Mata Prasad Pandey also voiced concerns, indicating, "The administration in Milkipur is entirely focused on ensuring a BJP victory. They are using tactics such as scaring people by lifting women's burqa veils, aware that they are on the verge of losing the election."

He accused the administration of resorting to extreme measures to intimidate voters, including the controversial act of attempting to scare female voters by lifting their burqa veils, a strategy that, according to Mata Prasad Pandey, was designed to instill fear.

The bye-election in Milkipur has turned into a political arena, with both the ruling BJP and opposition parties like the SP emphasizing the importance of this seat.

The primary contenders for this prestigious Assembly seat are Chandrabhanu Paswan of the BJP and Ajit Prasad of the SP.

The stakes have been heightened following the SP’s unexpected victory in the Faizabad Lok Sabha seat last year, just months after the inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

The result of this bypoll will not only impact local politics but will also reflect the sentiments of the electorate in Uttar Pradesh, crucial for the upcoming elections.

To enhance transparency and ensure a smooth electoral process, stringent security measures have been put in place. Webcasting will be conducted at 210 polling stations, and videography will be executed at 25 stations.

A total of 71 polling stations have been outfitted with micro observers, along with nine flying squad teams, nine static monitoring teams, six video monitoring teams, two super zonal magistrates, four zonal magistrates, and 41 sector magistrates to supervise the election process.
