Bengaluru, Jan 28 (NationPress) The Navratna Defence Public Sector Undertaking Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has clinched fresh orders totaling ₹531 crore in the past two weeks, as stated by the company on Tuesday.

Key orders encompass an advanced Composite Communication System for ships, various communication equipment, Medical Electronics, Electro Optics, Active Radar Homing Heads for missiles, Class Room Jammers, and associated spares and services.

With this recent influx of orders, BEL's total orders for the current fiscal year have now reached ₹10,893 crore.

Since the last announcement on December 23, BEL had reported additional orders worth ₹973 crore, as revealed by the Navratna Defence Public Sector Undertaking on Monday.

Major orders from this batch include Platform Screen Doors for Metro Rail, radars, communication equipment, jammers, seekers, upgraded submarine sonar, enhanced satcom terminals, test stations, and other spares and services.

These recent orders have propelled BEL's order book to ₹9,801 crore for the ongoing financial year.

BEL operates as a multi-product, multi-technology conglomerate that designs, manufactures, and supplies a diverse range of products and systems across various sectors, including radars, missile systems, military communications, naval systems, electronic warfare & avionics systems, electro optics, tank electronics & gun system upgrades, and electronic fuzes within the defence realm. As of September 31, 2024, the Government of India owns a 51.14 percent stake in the company.

In the second quarter of FY25, BEL reported a net profit of ₹1,091.27 crore, marking a growth of 34.4 percent compared to ₹812.34 crore in the same period last year.

Revenue for BEL in Q2FY25 rose by 14.8 percent to ₹4,583.41 crore from ₹3,993.32 crore year-on-year (YoY).

Indian defence manufacturers are increasingly winning more contracts as part of the government's initiative to enhance domestic defence production, contributing to an Aatmanirbhar Bharat. This trend is evident in the growing order books of these firms.

The government's ambitious efforts to promote defence production have sparked a rise in the stock prices of defence companies and a significant increase in their market capitalization, reflecting the strong confidence and expectations investors have for this sector.
