New Delhi, Jan 31 (NationPress) India represents a significant market for Apple, and we have marked a record growth during the December quarter, with the iPhone emerging as the leading selling model in the country for the October-December period of 2024, said Apple CEO Tim Cook.
During a discussion with analysts following the release of impressive Q1 results, Cook noted that they have seen strong performance in various emerging markets.
“As you are aware from previous discussions, our focus on India remains strong. This December quarter has set a record for us, and we are expanding our presence with the announcement of four new stores,” stated Cook.
He also highlighted that the iPhone was the most popular model in India during this period.
“India is the second largest smartphone market globally and the third largest for PCs and tablets, presenting a significant opportunity for us, despite our modest share in these sectors. There is considerable potential for growth, and this is just one of the emerging markets we are focusing on,” he elaborated.
Additionally, the active install base of iPhones reached an all-time high across all geographic segments.
“We also achieved a record number of upgraders. A recent Kantar survey indicated that during the December quarter, the iPhone was the top-selling model in the U.S., urban China, India, the UK, France, Australia, and Japan,” Cook informed.
The CEO also mentioned Zomato, indicating that the prominent food delivery service in India has integrated thousands of Macs throughout their workforce to encourage innovation.
Apple celebrated its best quarter yet, reporting a revenue of $124.3 billion, a 4 percent increase from the previous year.
“We are excited to offer our customers the best lineup of products and services during the holiday season. With Apple silicon, we are unlocking new opportunities for users with Apple Intelligence, enhancing apps and experiences to be more personalized,” said Cook.
Apple Intelligence will expand to more languages this April, including support for India.
