Seoul, Jan 30 (NationPress) SK Telecom’s planned artificial intelligence (AI) assistant, aster, is anticipated to connect with well-known online platforms, including Google Calendar, according to sources on Thursday.
This AI assistant, aster, is designed to assist users in generating to-do lists and securing transportation as well as accommodation bookings based on their Google Calendar schedules, as reported by Yonhap news agency.
Aster serves as a sophisticated AI agent aimed at streamlining users’ daily activities with functions such as planning, execution, reminders, and suggestions. Its official launch in North America is slated for the latter half of the year, succeeding a beta service scheduled to commence in March.
Operating as an "agentic AI", it will possess the ability to make intricate decisions and perform actions through conversational exchanges with users.
Furthermore, SK Telecom is contemplating the integration of aster with other widely-used online applications, including the review platform Yelp and ride-sharing services such as Uber and Lyft.
In addition, the Korean firm aims to incorporate the AI search engine Perplexity into aster.
"We will determine the type of application programming interface to implement for our actual service after gathering consumer feedback during our beta service for North American users in March," stated an official from SK Telecom.
This month, SK Telecom announced the initiation of a beta service for its AI agent "aster" in March, targeting customers in North America. The North American launch is intended to evaluate its AI agent service within the global market.
"Unlike other AI agents that merely respond to user inquiries, aster actively takes actions based on users' requests and plans," SK Telecom emphasized.
