Mumbai, Feb 5 (NationPress) Actor and filmmaker Harman Baweja recently discussed the challenges that OTT platforms present to traditional films in today's evolving landscape. In an exclusive interview with IANS, the 'Love Story 2050' star emphasized that there is ample room for everyone and everything.
When asked, "With the rise of streaming services, do you feel traditional Bollywood films are having a hard time keeping pace?"
Harman Baweja responded, "I believe that traditional films have always encountered challenges. A few decades back, the VHS boom changed how people accessed content, allowing them to enjoy it at home. Then, with the satellite revolution, Zee TV emerged, followed by numerous other networks, and now we are experiencing the OTT surge. Hence, there are perpetual challenges facing such films, which makes the theatrical experience both thrilling and demanding for us as filmmakers, as we are continuously competing with various content consumption methods. The distribution landscape has transformed significantly."
He continued, "The nature of content has changed. Nowadays, we often find ourselves scrolling through content, which is another battle we face. Nonetheless, there is space for everything, there is space for everyone, and I firmly believe that a quality film will always find its audience—that's beyond doubt."
When inquired, "Were you deliberately choosing varied stories like Khago Ka Jhamira, Missile, and Chidiya Ud?"
Harman Baweja replied, "I don't think there has been a conscious decision on my part or my team's to pick different genres. Instead, it revolves around the stories that resonate with us, the ones we appreciate, and believe should be developed. We have a fascinating team in our office, each member brings a unique perspective. This diversity aids my growth and inspires the generation of different ideas."
