Mumbai, Feb 8 (NationPress) Actor Harshvardhan Rane, known for his blockbuster film ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ which has recently been re-released in cinemas, revealed an intriguing anecdote about his casting in the movie.

In an interview with IANS, the actor explained that he was four months late to the auditions, as the casting for his role was already completed. However, after discovering the film, he urged the producers to consider his audition. He mentioned that it didn’t concern him if they decided against him post-audition; he simply wished to showcase his talent.

Harshvardhan stated, “I begged and pleaded to land this film. I was genuinely convinced about the character. Even though I arrived four months late and they had already selected someone else, I insisted, ‘Please, just watch my audition. I am prepared to do it here.’ They told me I was wasting my time since the chosen actor was already in the next room, reading the script. I replied, ‘I’m not asking for any changes; my only request is to perform my audition, even if it gets discarded.’ After much insistence, they finally allowed me, and his assistant Ravi ji recorded my audition.”

He further added, “Later, Radhika ma'am and Vinay sir (the directors) reviewed it. They returned after an hour, requesting me to perform again. When they came back an hour and a half later, Vinay sir had tears in his eyes. They embraced me, stating, ‘You have caused a significant disruption since all the outfits were ready. We need to alter everything because the poster shoot is in two days.’ I expressed my gratitude but mentioned, ‘I really need to visit the washroom.’ They were surprised, asking why I hadn’t said so earlier, then directed me to the restroom. When I entered, the hero was there reading the script, and I couldn’t muster the courage to meet his gaze.”

The actor expressed his joy at how the film has created a lasting impact over the past decade due to its storytelling, performances, and music.

“The fact that I had to plead for this role indicates my strong conviction from the onset. After reading the story and its synopsis, I am just glad that even after 9-10 years, people finally understood my perspective. It’s heartwarming to see that audiences connected with my vision as well. It’s a pleasant feeling. Over these years, I have worked on various films,” he concluded.

Produced by Deepak Mukut under the banner of Soham Rockstar Productions, ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ is currently screening in theatres.
