New Delhi, Dec 10 (NationPress) Approximately 123 regular Ayush visas and 221 e-Ayush visas have been issued to foreigners pursuing treatment in India from July 2023 to December 2024, as reported by the Union government on Tuesday.
In this timeframe, 17 e-Ayush attendant visas have also been granted, as stated by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush, Prataprao Jadhav, in a written response in the Rajya Sabha.
On July 27, 2023, the Government established a distinct category of Ayush Visa for foreigners who travel to India for treatment under the Ayush medical system.
The Ayush Visa comprises four sub-categories: Ayush visa, Ayush attendant visa, e-Ayush visa, and e-Ayush attendant visa.
An Ayush Visa is allocated to foreigners whose primary intent is to seek treatment through Ayush systems.
“A total of 123 regular Ayush Visas, 221 e-Ayush Visas, and 17 e-Ayush Attendant Visas have been issued as of December 4,” stated MoS Jadhav.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has also debuted an official portal for Medical Value Travel (MVT), known as the Advantage Healthcare India portal.
This “one-stop” portal is designed to provide essential information for individuals seeking medical treatment in India from overseas.
The government’s goal is to raise awareness among stakeholders, including Ayush facility providers and others engaged in MVT.
As part of this initiative, the government hosted the Ayush Medical Value Travel Summit 2024 in September in Mumbai to enhance India's standing in Medical Value Travel by merging traditional Indian medical systems with contemporary healthcare.
The summit's theme was 'Global Synergy in Ayush: Transforming Health and Wellness through Medical Value Travel'.
Additionally, MoS Jadhav informed that the government has implemented a strategy to co-locate Ayush facilities at Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs), and District Hospitals (DHs).
This initiative will provide patients with “the choice to access different systems of medicine under one roof,” as stated by the MoS.
