Amit Mandali from Gujarat Shares How Ayushman Bharat Became Vital for His Liver Treatment
Amit Mandali, a resident of Patdi tehsil in Surendranagar district, Gujarat, was previously battling a critical health issue. Amid financial struggles and family distress due to his liver infection, the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) provided essential support, serving as a crucial lifeline for his family.

New Delhi, Dec 19 (NationPress) Amit Mandali, a resident of Patdi tehsil in Surendranagar district, Gujarat, was grappling with a life-threatening health issue not long ago. Confronted with financial difficulties and family distress stemming from his liver infection, the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) emerged as a vital support system for his family.

Thanks to this flagship initiative by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government, Amit received comprehensive hospitalization and treatment at no cost. Today, he and his family are immensely grateful and relieved to have triumphed over this serious health challenge.

Amit is on the mend, bringing back joy and happiness to his family. They express profound gratitude to PM Modi for the Ayushman scheme.

In a heartfelt expression of thanks, they stated: "Without the Ayushman card, he wouldn't have been able to access treatment at a private hospital."

Amit's family includes a son, a wife, and elderly parents.

Given their limited financial means, his illness turned their lives upside down.

The family was engulfed in despair when they learned of Amit’s liver damage.

The situation worsened as he was the family's sole breadwinner.

Unable to afford private hospital expenses, the Ayushman Card scheme became a lifeline. He sought treatment at IKDRC, Ahmedabad, where all treatment costs were fully covered under the Ayushman Bharat card.

It's important to note that AB PM-JAY is one of the largest welfare initiatives of the PM Modi administration, offering health coverage of ₹5 lakhs for each family, benefiting around 55 crore individuals for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization.

The scheme has continually expanded since its inception in 2018.

Recently, it was broadened to include all senior citizens aged 70 years and above, regardless of their income level.

Initially, the program covered 10.74 crore underprivileged and vulnerable families, representing the lowest 40 percent of the nation’s population.

In January 2022, the beneficiary count was increased to 12 crore families. The scheme also extended benefits to 37 lakh ASHAs and their families across the nation.
