Kheda, Dec 22 (NationPress) The Ayushman Bharat PM-Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) has proven to be a crucial support system for the economically disadvantaged, offering complimentary healthcare to countless individuals across India. Launched by the government in 2018, this initiative has provided much-needed relief to those unable to manage expensive treatments.
Under this extensive program, families can receive health coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh annually, and they are eligible for treatment at any registered hospital nationwide. This includes both serious and non-serious medical issues, ensuring that a wide array of healthcare requirements are met without imposing a financial strain.
A remarkable success story originates from Kapadwanj in Gujarat's Kheda district.
Amar Bhai Solanki, the head of his family, was diagnosed with stones in both kidneys. The expenses associated with private treatment were beyond his family's means, with the surgical procedure for one kidney alone costing nearly Rs 1 lakh. However, with the assistance of the Ayushman Bharat card, Solanki and his family sought treatment at IK DRC in Ahmedabad. His first surgery was successful, and the second is scheduled shortly. The family is overjoyed with the progress and immensely grateful for the support provided by the scheme.
In a conversation with IANS, family member Bharat Singh Solanki expressed, "Obtaining treatment in private hospitals was incredibly difficult due to high expenses. However, with the Ayushman Bharat card, the situation has significantly improved for people like us. We are now accessing top-notch medical care. I would like to extend my gratitude to the PM Modi government for this initiative."
The AB PM-JAY, which currently covers 12 crore families, has been a substantial welfare effort of the Modi government. The scope of the initiative has progressively widened, now including senior citizens over 70 years of age, irrespective of income. Furthermore, healthcare benefits are also accessible to more than 37 lakh ASHAs and their families. This expansion guarantees that the most vulnerable segments of society continue to benefit from quality healthcare, marking the scheme as a significant milestone in India’s healthcare framework.
