Hyderabad, Feb 21 (NationPress) All students of Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) Hyderabad, who exhibited symptoms of illness after consuming food at the campus mess, are currently in stable condition, as stated by the institute on Friday.
The management described this as an isolated incident affecting 27 out of 1,200 residents after eating at the campus mess.
On Friday, the institute mentioned that around 1,000 students had partaken in the mess food. While a small number experienced discomfort, they received immediate medical assistance under the supervision of expert physicians.
Initial care was administered in the library to ensure proper hydration and timely treatment, after which the affected individuals were transferred to the hospital as a precaution to ensure the best care.
NMIMS Hyderabad confirmed that all impacted students are in stable condition and will be discharged shortly.
"NMIMS Hyderabad is dedicated to ensuring student health and safety. We maintain the highest standards of hygiene and food safety throughout our campuses," the institute conveyed in an official statement.
It also assured that stricter protocols regarding external food sources will be established on campus to further protect student health. The administration will persist in closely monitoring the situation and enhancing all necessary measures to guarantee student welfare.
Some students experienced symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and fever after eating at the NMIMS campus mess located in Jadcherla near Hyderabad.
The administration faced criticism for initially treating the affected students on-site instead of transferring them to a hospital.
Upon learning of the situation, Jadcherla MLA P. Anirudh Reddy visited the institute and urged the administration to move the impacted students to a hospital.
A segment of the student body expressed concern regarding the incident and called for immediate action to enhance food quality.
