Copenhagen, Feb 11 (NationPress) India engaged in discussions on sustainable renewable energy initiatives with the International Solar Alliance (ISA) in Denmark to secure global funding and technology from both nations.

The Indian ambassador to Denmark held meetings with key officials of the ISA in Copenhagen to deliberate on various initiatives.

"Indian Ambassador to Denmark, Manish Prabhat, DG Mathur, and DG-elect Khanna discussed ISA's Sustainable Renewable Energy initiatives aimed at attracting global funding and technology from both India and Denmark," the Indian Embassy in Copenhagen stated on X on Monday.

In 2021, Denmark became the first country to sign and ratify a framework agreement with India concerning the International Solar Alliance.

Moreover, India and Denmark collaborated within the ISA framework during India's G20 presidency, with Denmark participating in working groups focused on climate, environment, and energy transmission as part of the Green Strategic Partnership between the two nations.

The International Solar Alliance is set to hold its third High-level Conference on New Technologies for Clean Energy Transition in November 2024.

This event is being organized in collaboration with India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, the Asian Development Bank, and the International Solar Energy Society.

A report on the 'Readiness Assessment of Green Hydrogen in African Countries' was released during the event's inaugural session, which was conducted by ISA and Denmark.

Emil S. Lauritsen, Head of Strategic Sector Cooperation at the Embassy of Denmark in New Delhi, shared insights on the report, stating, "This document is the first project under the memorandum of understanding for the green hydrogen partnership established by the Embassy of Denmark with the ISA. The aim is to assess the readiness of target countries: Egypt, Morocco, Namibia, and Egypt."

"The report analyzes three main categories: country-specific parameters, financing needs, and potential financing methods. It also evaluates risks and formulates strategies to create a green hydrogen economy in these nations," he added.

"As part of this partnership, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark will support ISA for three years, focusing on green hydrogen policies, regulations, and other elements of the green hydrogen value chain," Emil S. Lauritsen concluded.
