Washington, March 5 (NationPress) US President Donald Trump highlighted Payton McNabb, a former high school athlete and outspoken critic of the inclusion of trans women in women's sports.

He announced that he has enacted an executive order prohibiting men from competing in women's sports, a decision that mirrors legislation adopted in at least 24 states.

In his address to Congress, Trump stated, "I also signed an Executive Order to ban men from playing in women's sports."

Last month, Trump signed the executive order titled Keeping Men Out of Women's Sports, which requires that federally funded K-12 schools and colleges prevent transgender women and girls from participating in women's sports. Up to this point, the order has not faced any legal challenges.

While speaking to lawmakers, Trump recognized Payton McNabb, who drew national attention in 2022 after suffering a concussion and traumatic brain injury during a volleyball match in North Carolina, where a transgender girl from the opposing team struck a ball that hit her head.

"Three years ago, Payton McNabb was an all-star high school athlete with aspirations for college sports," Trump remarked. "However, during her girls' volleyball match, a male invaded the game and struck the ball so forcefully in Payton's face that it caused a traumatic brain injury, partially paralyzing her right side and ending her athletic career."

Trump noted McNabb's presence in the gallery, adding, "Payton is here tonight, and henceforth, schools will remove men from girls' teams, or they will lose all federal funding."

The executive order claims that there are only two immutable sexes and is part of a series of measures Trump has taken against transgender rights.

His administration has previously implemented policies that prohibited transgender individuals from serving in the military, limited changes to gender markers on passports, and eliminated references to transgender individuals from a government website that commemorates the Stonewall riot.

Many of these policies have encountered legal challenges. Recently, two judges issued temporary restraining orders against a different policy that aimed to cut federal funding for gender-affirming healthcare for transgender minors.
