Seoul, Feb 3 (NationPress) Detained South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol convened with the leaders of the ruling People Power Party (PPP) and urged them to consolidate efforts to "bring hope" to the younger generation and the populace, as reported by officials on Monday.

Yoon made this appeal during his meeting with the interim leader of the PPP, Kwon Young-se, the floor leader Kweon Seong-dong, and Rep. Na Kyung-won at the Seoul Detention Centre located in Uiwang, south of Seoul.

Na informed reporters that “(Yoon) called upon the party to come together and take action in providing hope for the citizens, especially those in their 20s and 30s.”

The discussions also addressed concerns regarding South Korea's trajectory amid the current international political climate and global economic challenges, she added.

Regarding his martial law declaration, Yoon clarified that it was a decision made "out of heavy responsibility" to avert the National Assembly from turning into a "one-party dictatorship" by the main opposition Democratic Party.

The impeached president was officially detained on January 19 due to allegations of insurrection and abuse of power associated with his brief imposition of martial law on December 3, as reported by the Yonhap news agency.

Earlier in the day, South Korean police announced their intent to raid the Presidential Security Service (PSS) in connection with its alleged efforts to obstruct investigators from executing a warrant for the detention of President Yoon Suk Yeol last month.

This raid targets acting PSS chief Kim Seong-hoon and Lee Kwang-woo, head of the PSS bodyguard division, who are suspected of hindering official duties and abusing their power to impede investigators during their initial attempt to detain Yoon over his temporary martial law imposition.

Police confirmed that investigators have been dispatched to the PSS office situated in the presidential office complex in Yongsan, central Seoul, and are currently awaiting access for the search and seizure.

Additionally, investigators were sent to search the residences of Kim and Lee, where they secured two phones each—a personal cellphone and a secure work cellphone.

The server for the secure phones is located at the PSS office.

Police have made two attempts to request arrest warrants for Kim and Lee, but both requests were denied by the prosecution.
