Ahmedabad, Feb 4 (NationPress) Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) announced on Tuesday that it achieved a record monthly cargo handling of 39.9 million metric tonnes (MMT) in January, marking a 13 percent increase compared to the previous year.
This performance included a remarkable rise in containers (+32 percent YoY) and liquids and gas (+18 percent YoY).
Year-to-date in January, APSEZ surpassed new benchmarks with a total cargo handling of 372.2 MMT, reflecting a 20 percent year-on-year increase, along with liquids and gases seeing a 9 percent YoY growth.
Furthermore, Mundra Port recorded several exceptional cargo handling feats in January 2025, some of which have set national standards.
The company stated, “The outstanding performance across various cargo segments underscores Adani Port’s status as a premier global port and a cornerstone of India’s economy.”
APSEZ Mundra hit a significant monthly cargo record of 17.20 million metric tonnes, surpassing the previous record of 17.11 million metric tonnes, the highest ever achieved by any Indian port in maritime history.
In container management, Mundra set a new national record with a throughput of 7.72 lakh Twenty-foot Equivalent (TEUs) in one month.
The company highlighted, “This achievement reflects Mundra Port’s proficiency in handling containerized cargo and underscores Adani Port’s crucial role in the global supply chain.”
Additionally, the Adani Mundra Marine Team managed 415 vessels with 884 movements, exceeding the prior record of 406 vessels and 876 movements.
The Mundra Railway Division also set a new monthly handling record with 1.47 lakh TEUs, surpassing the earlier record of 1.44 lakh TEUs handled.
Moreover, the Railway Team broke two additional records: handling the highest ever 682 trains, exceeding the previous record of 662 trains, and managing 447 double-stack trains, surpassing the prior record of 429.
“Container Terminal AICTPL achieved a record handling of 3.05 lakh TEUs in a single month, surpassing the previous best of 3.02 lakh TEUs, marking the highest volume ever managed by any single container terminal in India,” stated Adani Ports.
The APSEZ Mundra Liquid team attained the highest monthly throughput of 0.841 million tonnes, exceeding the previous record of 0.832 million tonnes, while the APSEZ LPG team successfully shipped 1.01 lakh metric tonnes of LPG in one month.
