Chennai, Feb 8 (NationPress) K. Annamalai, the president of the Tamil Nadu BJP, expressed his excitement over the party's significant triumph in the Delhi Assembly elections, asserting that this remarkable victory highlights the sustained popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's developmental initiatives.
In his statement on Saturday, Annamalai remarked, "The citizens of Delhi have firmly turned their backs on the corrupt AAP, thoroughly defeated the Congress party for a third consecutive time, and bestowed upon the BJP a historic mandate."
Extending his congratulations to the Delhi BJP unit, Annamalai stated, "Heartfelt congratulations to all leaders and karyakartas of the Delhi BJP for achieving this extraordinary success. This victory stands as a testament to PM Narendra Modi and other leaders’ diligent efforts, commitment, and steadfast dedication to the party's principles."
As news of the BJP's success spread, jubilant celebrations erupted at Kamalalayam, the BJP's headquarters in Tamil Nadu. Senior leaders, including Tamilisai Soundararajan, V.P. Duraisamy, Narayanan Thirupathy, and Karu Nagarajan, joined party members in distributing sweets and lighting firecrackers.
Tamilisai Soundararajan, a senior BJP leader and former governor, praised the party's achievement, stating, "In the national capital, the BJP is rising, while the AAP is bowing its head in shame, and the Grand Old Party Congress is losing its ground."
It is noteworthy that with the 2026 assembly elections approaching, the Tamil Nadu BJP is setting ambitious goals for improved performance. Currently, the BJP holds four MLAs in the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly, but in the 2021 elections, they were allied with the AIADMK, the state's main opposition party.
It should be remembered that some public remarks made by BJP president K. Annamalai resulted in a significant rift between the AIADMK and the BJP, ultimately leading to the collapse of their alliance. The AIADMK has exited the NDA, and in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, both parties contested independently, failing to secure any seats.
The DMK has already proclaimed its intention to win 200 of the 237 assembly seats in Tamil Nadu, with a dedicated election management team led by young leader Udhayanidhi Stalin overseeing the situation. The DMK has also appointed full-time workers for all 237 Assembly seats.
