Guwahati, April 30 (NationPress) The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) announced the results for the Class 12 Board exams on Wednesday, revealing that the Science stream achieved the highest pass percentage of 84.88%.
This year's results reflect an overall positive performance, with pass rates across different streams showcasing a strong academic commitment.
The Science stream topped the results with a pass percentage of 84.88%, followed closely by Commerce at 82.18%, Arts at 81.03%, and Vocational courses lagging at 68.55%.
In the Science stream, known for its challenges, 57,725 students registered, with 56,909 taking the exams. A total of 48,309 students successfully passed, representing not only a numerical achievement but also the culmination of extensive hours in labs, mastering complex equations, and preparing for both theoretical and practical tests.
The Arts stream, traditionally the largest in terms of enrollment, showed a remarkable participation rate. With 230,090 students applying and 226,756 taking the exams, the high number of candidates highlighted the stream's popularity.
The subjects studied ranged widely from political science and history to languages and sociology. Ultimately, 183,745 students succeeded, yielding a pass percentage of 81.03%.
Commerce students also demonstrated strong performance. Of the 17,869 who applied, 17,746 participated, and 14,584 passed, achieving a pass percentage of 82.18%.
The Commerce stream, focusing on core subjects like accountancy, business studies, and economics, has become an increasingly popular choice for those looking to enter the corporate sector, start new ventures, or pursue advanced studies in management and finance.
Though smaller in size, the Vocational stream plays a crucial role in providing students with practical skills suited for immediate employment. This year, the stream recorded a pass percentage of 68.55%. While there’s potential for improvement, this result emphasizes the growing significance of vocational training in the current job market.
Students trained in sectors like healthcare, hospitality, agriculture, and technology are reflective of the increasing need for skilled professionals.
As celebrations erupted throughout the state, AHSEC reminded students of the subsequent steps. All students who passed will receive a physical copy of their Certificate cum Marksheet, with the distribution date to be announced soon.
For those who did not clear all subjects or appeared under special provisions, the council explained that hard copies will not be sent automatically. However, these students can apply at the Board office if they wish to obtain their certificates.
