New Delhi, Feb 8 (NationPress) As the vote counting commenced in the national Capital for a closely monitored and fiercely contested Assembly election, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi expressed her belief that the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal is poised to secure a fourth term as Chief Minister with a significant majority.
"This is not just any election; it represents a struggle between good and evil, as well as work versus hooliganism. I am certain that the residents of Kalkaji and the entire city of Delhi will rally behind the good, AAP, and Arvind Kejriwal," Chief Minister Atishi stated to reporters.
Reflecting on the party's origins, CM Atishi, the AAP candidate for the Kalkaji constituency, noted that when the party emerged from an anti-corruption movement, it lacked both finances and manpower.
"When AAP embarked on its journey, we possessed nothing. Few believed that AAP could thrive in politics. We lacked money and manpower. We do not engage in religious politics or vote bank politics. Yet, we have come this far due to the affection of the people and the blessings of God," she added.
CM Atishi faces competition from the BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri and Congress' Alka Lama in Kalkaji.
When asked about her expectations regarding the seat margin, CM Atishi calmly instructed reporters to wait until the evening.
Meanwhile, a confident Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj asserted early in the day that AAP would secure at least 40-45 seats and govern once more.
"We are receiving reports from various regions indicating that AAP will achieve a comfortable majority. AAP will secure a minimum of 40-45 seats," he stated.
Delhi held elections on February 5 to select its next government, as the BJP, AAP, and Congress battled for control in the national Capital.
Exit polls have suggested a potential comeback for the BJP in Delhi after 27 years, with predictions indicating the party could easily surpass the majority threshold of 36 and acquire an additional 10-15 seats, thereby displacing the incumbent Arvind Kejriwal led AAP. Conversely, Congress is projected to secure a maximum of 0-3 seats.
