Patna, Feb 8 (NationPress) Following a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a group of 30 MPs from Bihar conveyed their appreciation for the substantial funds allocated to the state in the Union Budget 2025-26, as noted by JD-U Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Kumar Jha.
Jha mentioned, "In the previous Budget (2024-25), Bihar was allocated Rs 60,000 crore, and this year's Budget continues that trend with significant investments aimed at the state's development. Therefore, the MPs of the NDA met with the Prime Minister to express their gratitude for such a substantial allocation for Bihar through the Union Budget."
The Budget features provisions for new airports, various infrastructure projects, and the formation of a Makhana Board to boost the production and marketing of foxnuts, a vital agricultural product for the state.
On the recent Delhi Assembly elections, Jha criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, asserting that during the election campaign, he noticed that several areas in Delhi were lacking basic amenities like drinking water and proper roads.
"The conditions in these areas were worse than those in villages in Bihar. The exit polls indicating support for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) were accurate, and we expect a BJP-led government to be established in Delhi," stated the JD-U leader.
In response to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's comments that Dalits have not been granted their rights in Bihar, Jha pointed out the Congress was in power in Bihar for many years and was aligned with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) from 1990 to 2005.
"Why did they not provide rights to Dalits and backward caste communities during their governance? Since coming to power in 2005, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has implemented reservations in the Panchayati Raj system, ensuring rights for Backward, Extremely Backward, and Dalit communities in Bihar," Jha remarked.
Addressing RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's statement about appointing Tejashwi Yadav as Chief Minister in 2025, Jha acknowledged that as it is an election year in Bihar, everyone is entitled to campaign.
However, he referenced the recent by-elections in four Assembly constituencies - Imamganj, Belaganj, Tarari, and Ramgarh - where the NDA won all four seats.
Jha expressed confidence that despite the Opposition's efforts, the election results would favor the NDA.
Regarding Tejashwi Yadav's meeting with the Governor over concerns about increasing crime in Bihar, Jha asserted that the law and order situation in the state is stable and among the best in the nation.
