Bhopal, March 17 (NationPress) The Akhil Bhartiya Brahmin Samaj voiced its alarm over the mob lynching incident in Madhya Pradesh's Mauganj district, where a local resident and a police officer lost their lives, and several other policemen sustained injuries.

Pushpendra Mishra, President of the State Akhil Bhartiya Brahmin Samaj, stated that in the last two months, around a dozen individuals from the Brahmin community have faced brutal attacks or were killed by mobs across various regions in the state.

“Before the incident in Mauganj, a mob brutally murdered four Brahmins in Jabalpur in February. While we acknowledge that the accused have been apprehended, it raises the question of why the Brahmin community is being targeted in Madhya Pradesh?” Mishra remarked during a press briefing in Bhopal.

He further criticized State BJP President V.D. Sharma and Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla for their silence despite the series of violent incidents that have occurred recently.

Mishra asserted that Brahmins have been attacked in Chhatapur, Jabalpur, Mauganj, and several other districts over the past two months.

“Currently, V.D. Sharma and Rajendra Shukla are influential Brahmin figures within the ruling BJP. They portray themselves as leaders of the Brahmin community during elections, yet they remain completely silent when their community is in distress,” he added.

Mishra also cautioned that the Akhil Bharatiya Brahmin Samaj is planning a large protest in Bhopal to express their displeasure regarding the attacks on Brahmins.

“We will meet the state DGP on Monday to present a comprehensive list of incidents that occurred in the past months. If appropriate actions are not taken, we will proceed with a protest in Bhopal,” Mishra stated.

Significantly, a local resident, Sunny Dube, was lynched by a mob in Mauganj on Saturday, resulting in his death after being brutally beaten in a locked room.

When the local police arrived to rescue him, they were attacked by the mob with sticks and stones.

During this confrontation, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ramcharan Gautam, who was part of the rescue unit, was killed instantly.

Additionally, three to four other police officers who suffered serious injuries from stone pelting were hospitalized at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Rewa.

On Sunday, law enforcement apprehended at least six individuals linked to the assault on the police team in Mauganj district, and interrogations were conducted.

Rewa Divisional Commissioner, Saket Prakash Pandey, visited the site on Sunday and informed the media that the situation was stabilized; however, police forces have been deployed to ensure better law and order in Dabra village in Mauganj.

“When an additional police unit arrived, they discovered the body of an individual who had been held captive. During the rescue attempt, a large group of women, armed with sticks and stones, gathered outside, while men concealed themselves inside with axes and other lethal weapons,” Pandey elaborated.

“The police team dispatched to rescue the captive did not include any female officers, despite the presence of numerous women. As a result, stones were thrown at them, yet the police did not retaliate. This incident is regrettable,” Pandey concluded.
