New Delhi, Feb 8 (NationPress) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Anurag Thakur addressed the recent Delhi election results on Saturday, stating that the citizens were disillusioned with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

He expressed gratitude to the people of Delhi for their overwhelming support towards the BJP.

In a conversation with IANS, the BJP official remarked, “The public was tired of the AAP. Delhi has been looking forward to progress. For over a decade, there has been rampant corruption in Delhi. The defeat of prominent AAP figures like Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia clearly indicates that the citizens of Delhi were dissatisfied with the party. The term 'AAP-da' coined by PM Modi holds true. Just like the Covid challenges faced nationally and globally, there was an 'AAP-da' situation here.”

When questioned if the Congress party assisted AAP during the elections, Thakur replied, “Both parties are essentially the same… they collaborated during the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. Both are steeped in corruption. Rahul Gandhi and Kejriwal were in cahoots, attempting to sway anti-incumbency votes towards Congress. However, the voters were astute and made the right choice by granting a decisive majority to the BJP.”

Thakur continued, expressing his appreciation for the electorate in Delhi, stating, “The voters have clearly chosen the BJP, indicating they no longer desire those who make excuses and blame others. ‘Now it’s Modi in the country and Modi in Delhi’. We will pave the way for development in Delhi, and those who continue to make excuses will be sidelined.”

Regarding the 'Sheesh Mahal', he noted that it would be up to the elected government to address the matter.

According to the current trends, the BJP is poised for a significant victory in Delhi after 26 years. Six hours into the vote counting, the BJP was leading in 47 out of 70 seats, while the AAP was ahead in 23. The Congress seemed destined to end up with no seats.

Anurag Thakur, who was present in Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh, stated, “I feel privileged to be in a location where millions are coming to partake in a holy dip.”
