Agartala, Feb 8 (NationPress) Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has stated that drone technology possesses the potential to enhance employment and productivity across various sectors, including agriculture, security, electric supply, wildlife conservation, disaster management, and healthcare in remote areas.
During the launch of 'Skill-Uday Tongnai', a skill development initiative aimed at empowering students, at Narsingarh in West Tripura, the Chief Minister remarked on Friday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under the 'Act East Policy', highlighted that India's development is contingent upon the progress of the northeast.
“The northeast has faced challenges such as terrorism and kidnapping for many years. Since Modi took office, he introduced the HIRA model for the Northeast, leading to significant advancements like six national highways in Tripura, improved internet connectivity, and enhanced rail connectivity,” said CM Saha.
He noted that individuals returning to the state after an extended absence are often astonished by the transformation in Tripura. Furthermore, he mentioned that 12 MoUs have been signed between the Central government and various organizations, including militant groups in the northeast, to secure enduring peace.
“Without peace, development is unattainable,” emphasized the Chief Minister, adding that Tripura is rich in resources that were once underutilized. He also mentioned a meeting with a leading industrialist in Mumbai, who promised that a team would soon visit the state.
Tripura is the second-largest producer of natural rubber after Kerala, and industries based on rubber resources are being established, he stated. Additionally, PM Modi has initiated a distinct department for skill development, asserting that without adequate skills, the state or nation cannot achieve optimal results.
“We have Agarwood, a valuable resource that is now being exported to the Middle East following the lifting of restrictions. Our target is to generate approximately Rs 10,000 crore from Agarwood, which would greatly enhance the state's economy,” CM Saha announced.
He pointed out that Tripura's tea industry, previously overlooked for the past 35 years despite having skilled manpower and resources, is now receiving attention. A tea auction center has recently been opened, resulting in increased prices for Tripura tea.
“We are dedicated to advancing the state in every sector. Tripura ranks second in GSDP growth among northeastern states,” he remarked.
In conclusion, the Chief Minister highlighted that a drone has been developed, showcasing the significance of innovation. Drone technology can play a pivotal role in enhancing employment and productivity across numerous sectors such as agriculture, security, power services, wildlife conservation, disaster management, and healthcare in remote areas.
