Gondia (Maharashtra), Feb 21 (NationPress) Shiv Sena leader and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday took a jab at his former superior and Shiv Sena-UBT leader Uddhav Thackeray, asserting that a wolf does not transform into a tiger simply by donning the skin of a big cat.
"Some individuals have evidently lost their mental equilibrium. They are now speaking about resorting to violence. However, those who find themselves in a predicament akin to Asrani's in the film Sholay should refrain from such rhetoric. One must possess strength to make a challenge. A wolf does not become a tiger by wearing a tiger’s skin," he declared during a party rally in Deori, situated in Gondia district of the Vidarbha region.
Shinde further asserted, “They (Shiv Sena UBT) faced defeat in both the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. They will also face defeat in the forthcoming local body elections.”
Shinde highlighted that “the beloved sisters, brothers, and farmers have overwhelmingly backed Shiv Sena and MahaYuti, casting their votes in our favor.”
He added, “Some had claimed that not a single MLA from our side would win. However, during my speech in the Assembly, I had stated that we would secure more than 200 seats. Ultimately, the MahaYuti triumphed with 232 seats in the elections.”
He emphasized that between June 2022 and November 2024, the MahaYuti government diligently worked, initiated irrigation projects in Vidarbha and Marathwada, and revitalized the Jalyukt Shivar Yojana. All schemes that had been halted by the Maha Vikas Aghadi were resumed.
Shinde remarked, “Power and positions may come and go, but the affection received as a beloved brother from our sisters is more significant than any position.” He continued, “I am committed to working wholeheartedly for the development of Maharashtra until my last breath. I have never coveted a position or chair, nor will I ever.”
In a press conference in Nagpur, Eknath Shinde criticized Shiv Sena-UBT, stating that those who have strayed from Balasaheb Thackeray’s principles and those who expel capable individuals from the party were rejected by the public in the Assembly elections and have been relegated to obscurity.
However, “Shiv Sena is the banner that upholds the values of Balasaheb Thackeray and Dharmaveer Anand Dighe. Hence, leaders, office-bearers, and activists from various parties across the state are aligning with Shiv Sena,” he added.
Regarding the email threat he received, the Maharashtra Deputy CM asserted, “I am a follower of Balasaheb Thackeray and Anand Dighe. Dance bars were shut down when Anand Dighe was in charge. There were numerous threats back then as well. When I served as the Guardian Minister of Gadchiroli, I faced threats from Maoists, but the Gadchiroli police effectively tackled the LWE issue. I am not intimidated by threats... I am someone who remains resolute.”
