Patna, Feb 4 (NationPress) Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is set to land in Patna on February 5 to take part in the 'Azadi Ke Parwane' event, commemorating the birth anniversary of Jaglal Chaudhary, an influential Independence activist, Dalit leader, and distinguished politician from Bihar.

The gathering will take place at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall at 1 p.m., as per the confirmation from Bihar Congress president Akhilesh Singh.

Rahul Gandhi is expected to arrive at Patna airport around 9:40 a.m.

This marks his second visit to Bihar within 20 days, indicating a heightened focus on the state ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.

Jaglal Chaudhary, a key leader from the Pasi community, significantly contributed to India's freedom movement. He abandoned his MBBS studies to aid Mahatma Gandhi and later took on the role of Excise Minister in the Bihar government, where he played a pivotal role in enforcing a state-wide liquor prohibition.

Chaudhary is celebrated for his social contributions and continues to inspire many.

Bihar Congress president Akhilesh Singh highlighted that the youth in Bihar will have the opportunity to learn about Jaglal Chaudhary’s legacy during this event.

Commenting on Rahul Gandhi’s repeated visits to Patna, Singh mentioned that he aims to energize and motivate Congress workers and the youth of Bihar.

“We had requested Rahul Gandhi to dedicate more time to Bihar and other states, and he agreed,” Singh remarked.

He also reiterated the Congress' commitment to secular politics, emphasizing its alliance with RJD and opposition to the BJP-led NDA.

“Congress has made sacrifices for independence and secured freedom for the nation—where was the Sangh then? Congress is a national party, and RJD has consistently been a reliable partner. RJD has never allied with the BJP, and Congress has always stood against the BJP. Underestimating Congress is a blunder, as our supporters are present in every neighborhood and locality across the country,” Singh noted.

He further addressed the NDA’s electoral ambitions, stating: “While the NDA aims for 225 seats, we are targeting to win 243.”
