Kolkata, Feb 21 (NationPress) The former captain of the Indian cricket team and previous President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly, experienced a minor incident involving his motorcade on the National Highway close to Singur in the Hooghly district of West Bengal late Thursday night.
Fortunately, the cricketing icon has been confirmed safe, with no injuries reported for either Ganguly or his driver.
The vehicle carrying the former athlete also sustained no significant damage.
The district police superintendent, Kamanasish Sen, confirmed that there were no injuries to anyone involved or substantial damage to any vehicles.
The wait time for Ganguly’s vehicle on the highway after the incident was under 10 minutes.
Reports indicate that the driver had to make a sudden stop when a truck carrying goods tried to overtake them.
This abrupt braking caused the car behind to collide with Ganguly’s vehicle, which initiated a chain reaction of collisions among the trailing cars.
Fortunately, Ganguly’s high-end luxury vehicle, equipped with advanced safety features, was minimally affected, preventing any serious injuries or significant vehicle damage.
Shortly after the incident, Ganguly’s vehicle continued its journey to Durgapur in the East Burdwan district of West Bengal for a scheduled event.
Current updates confirm that he has returned to Kolkata after attending the function in Burdwan.
Ganguly made headlines in mid-August of last year when a Division Bench of the Calcutta High Court directed the West Bengal government to submit an affidavit regarding the lease of 350 acres of land to him for just Re 1 for establishing a factory in the West Midnapore district.
The Division Bench also inquired whether the land was leased to Ganguly following a proper tender process.
