Jaipur, April 23 (NationPress) Neeraj Udhwani, a 33-year-old resident of Jaipur, was among the victims of the tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22. His remains are anticipated to arrive in Jaipur later tonight.
Neeraj, who resided in Forest View Residency, Model Town (Malviya Nagar), was vacationing in Kashmir with his wife when terrorists began firing at tourists in Baisaran Valley, a well-known location in Pahalgam.
Although Neeraj lost his life in this horrendous act, his wife, who was at their hotel at that time, emerged unscathed and notified the family about the tragedy.
Neeraj, employed in the UAE, had returned to India for a holiday. He had recently attended a wedding in Shimla before traveling to Kashmir with his wife. The couple had celebrated their marriage for two years, having wed at Bhanwar Singh Palace in Pushkar.
Neeraj’s uncle, Dinesh Udhwani, expressed that the family is enveloped in profound grief. His elder brother, Kishore Udhwani, an income tax inspector, had just arrived in Jaipur with his wife four days prior.
Neeraj’s mother, Jyoti Udhwani, is being supported by relatives and neighbors. His father, Pradeep Udhwani, had passed away a decade ago.
The attack on Tuesday resulted in at least 26 fatalities and over 17 injuries. Victims included tourists from Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, as well as individuals from Nepal and the UAE. Additionally, two local residents lost their lives.
This incident marks the most lethal terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir since the Pulwama attack on February 14, 2019, which claimed the lives of 40 CRPF personnel. The Pakistan-based terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed had taken responsibility for that attack.
This is not the first instance of tourists from Jaipur being targeted. On June 10, 2024, four individuals from the city, including a child, were killed in a terrorist strike in J&K. On May 18, 2024, a couple from Jaipur -- Farah Khan (35) and Tabrez Khan (38) -- was shot at a resort in the Yaner area of Pahalgam.
