Bengaluru, Feb 8 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP unit marked their triumph in the New Delhi Assembly elections on Saturday at Jagannath Bhavan, the BJP headquarters in Bengaluru, by distributing sweets and setting off firecrackers.
Party leaders waved BJP flags, showcased the victory symbol, and shouted slogans in support of the party. BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra, Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka, and Leader of the Opposition in the Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy played traditional drums accompanied by artists while party workers danced and celebrated.
In a media briefing following the celebrations, Ashoka remarked: "After 27 years, the citizens of New Delhi have given a clear mandate to the BJP, sending a strong message to the entire nation. Following the successful management of the Hindu Yatra and the Maha Kumbh Mela, the public is now convinced that the BJP truly honors Indian heritage and culture."
"A significant portion of New Delhi's population comes from Uttar Pradesh. The robust image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his global appeal, the recently proposed Union Budget, and the tax relief for annual incomes up to Rs 12 lakh have all played a role in this victory," he continued.
Ashoka emphasized that New Delhi, along with Maharashtra and Karnataka, ranks among the largest tax-contributing states. He pointed out that many individuals benefitted from the tax exemptions.
Criticizing Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Ashoka stated, "Initially, he presented himself with a muffler, always appearing unwell during previous election campaigns while driving a Rs 50,000 Wagon R. But now, his cough has vanished, and his Wagon R is gone. He has constructed a 30-room mansion, 'Sheesh Mahal,' and even purchased a Rs 40 lakh television using taxpayers’ money. The public has witnessed his lavish lifestyle."
"He previously labeled the Yamuna River as contaminated and made disparaging comments about the sacred Ganga River. Hindus have revered the Ganga for millennia, and suddenly, he claims it has become polluted. This has profoundly offended people's sentiments," he added.
He remarked that by securing the BJP’s victory, the citizens have made it evident that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is their singular choice.
“This victory also serves as a precursor to the forthcoming Telangana and Karnataka Assembly elections,” he stated.
State President Vijayendra expressed his elation over the BJP’s victory, declaring: "After 27 years, the BJP has achieved a sweeping victory in New Delhi. The discerning voters of New Delhi have favored us, bolstering the hands of Prime Minister Modi and voting for progress."
He noted that the AAP, which ascended to power in New Delhi through an anti-corruption campaign, has now been completely exposed. The true nature of Arvind Kejriwal has been unveiled, and leaders such as CM Atishi Marwah, former CM Arvind Kejriwal, and Manish Sisodia have faced defeats.
He further criticized the Congress party, stating, "Congress has scored a zero for the third consecutive Assembly election. They once claimed to offer an alternative to Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, but they have failed miserably. They were defeated in the Lok Sabha elections, were rejected in Maharashtra and Haryana, and now New Delhi has disregarded them as well."
Leader of the Opposition in the Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, remarked, "The government of Arvind Kejriwal has been ousted due to rampant corruption. The BJP is not facing any allegations nationwide. In Karnataka, Congress attempted to tarnish the BJP’s image with allegations such as the 40 percent commission scam and PayCM posters, but the courts have dismissed all these claims."
Meanwhile, Union Minister for Food, Public Distribution, and Consumer Affairs Pralhad Joshi, commenting on the resounding victory of the BJP in the New Delhi state assembly election, stated that the outcome is a slap on those who fostered anarchy in the national capital.
Speaking to the media in Hubballi on Saturday, he noted that the citizens of New Delhi have imparted a lesson to those who engaged in negative strategies.
“The public has presented a comprehensive victory for the BJP led by Prime Minister Modi. The BJP has secured over 46 percent of the seats thus far. I express my gratitude to Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and the citizens of New Delhi,” he stated.
He added that the populace has taught a fitting lesson to those who employ negative tactics.
Additionally, Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy stated that the substantial victory for the BJP was due to the visionary leadership of PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
“The citizens of India have once again opted for Viksit Bharat, Atmanirbhar Bharat, and governance focused on development over appeasement politics. This mandate reaffirms trust in robust leadership, economic growth, and national security. I am grateful to the karyakartas and citizens for their steadfast support. India moves forward with confidence—Viksit Bharat is our destiny!” Kumaraswamy affirmed.
Former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai remarked in New Delhi that the AAP had raised expectations by initiating a movement. “The citizens are disillusioned with their continuous lies and the indulgence of ministers in corruption, along with their tendency to always blame others when they failed to deliver,” he concluded.
