Bengaluru, Feb 8 (NationPress) A deeply disturbing event has emerged from Belagavi district, Karnataka, where a police Inspector organized a demonstration by laying his father's deceased body in front of a police station. He claimed that the misconduct of a police Sub-Inspector (SI) contributed to his father's demise.

This event transpired within the jurisdiction of the Harogeri police station in Raybag taluk during the early hours of Saturday.

Ashoka Sadalagi, an Inspector affiliated with the Devadurga police station in Vijayapura district, orchestrated the protest, demanding accountability from Harogeri police Sub-Inspector Malappa Poojari.

Reports indicate that the police neglected to file a complaint against individuals who had reportedly assaulted Inspector Ashoka Sadalagi's father, Annappa. Furthermore, it is alleged that his father was unjustly detained at the police station for an entire day and subjected to harassment.

By the evening, Annappa became unwell, exhibiting a decline in both blood pressure and sugar levels. His second son transported him to a private medical facility for care, where he unfortunately passed away on Saturday.

Outraged by the circumstances, Inspector Sadalagi staged a protest by placing his father's body outside the Harogeri police station, demanding justice and the filing of an FIR against the SI.

The family also urged Belagavi district Superintendent of Police, Bheemashankar Guled, to come to the site.

However, the Chikkodi Dy SP quickly arrived at the scene and persuaded Inspector Sadalagi to end his protest.

According to reports, on January 10, three individuals allegedly invaded Annappa's farmland. Upon confrontation, they reportedly assaulted him. Annappa then contacted the emergency helpline seeking police assistance.

The police brought both the accused and Annappa to the station. Allegations have been made that Annappa endured mistreatment while in custody.

Inspector Sadalagi had reached out to the SI of the Harogeri police station, the CPI, and Athani Dy SP, seeking action. However, the police reportedly refused to record the complaint.

Additionally, it is alleged that the SI of the Harogeri police station filed an atrocity case against Inspector Sadalagi's brother on February 2, following a counter-complaint from the accused.

The police department has yet to release an official statement regarding these events.
