New Delhi, Feb 21 (NationPress) The police in Bihar's Munger injured a criminal during an encounter on Friday morning, implementing a 'zero tolerance' policy against crime, akin to the strategy adopted by the police in Uttar Pradesh.

The police confronted Nitish Kumar, who had been evading arrest after allegedly shooting an eight-year-old boy, Anshu Kumar. During the clash, the suspect suffered a gunshot injury to his right leg.

After the incident, law enforcement apprehended Nitish Kumar and transported him to Sadar Hospital for urgent medical care.

Upon hearing the news, Superintendent of Police (SP) Syed Imran Masood quickly arrived at the hospital to discuss the situation with the Dharhara police team.

Using the information obtained from the accused, the police managed to recover the weapon linked to the crime.

This incident traces back to January 7, when Nitish Kumar allegedly shot his eight-year-old neighbor, Anshu Kumar, in the head in Govindpur village under the jurisdiction of Dharhara police station.

The disturbing motive behind this attack was the child's refusal to fetch cigarettes for him.

Since then, Kumar had been evading capture, prompting authorities to conduct numerous raids at various locations.

On February 20 (Thursday), the Patna police apprehended Kumar and transferred him to the Dharhara police station. However, later that night, he managed to escape from custody, sparking a frantic search by law enforcement.

Finally, at approximately 4 a.m. on Friday, the police received a tip-off about Kumar hiding in the Murakkata area (Jasidih) under Dharhara jurisdiction. When police arrived and commanded him to surrender, he opened fire at them. In response, the police shot him in the leg, leading to his arrest and subsequent transport to Sadar Hospital for medical treatment.
