Bhubaneswar, Feb 21 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, engaged in comprehensive discussions with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw concerning various aspects of enhancing the railway infrastructure in the state.

During his visit to the national capital, CM Majhi met with Minister Vaishnaw on Friday.

The Ministry of Railways has approved several pivotal infrastructure initiatives for Odisha, including a 250-km new railway line connecting Gopalpur and Rayagada, along with the final location survey for the doubling of the Nuapada-Gunupur-Therubali line.

These projects are designed to stimulate economic growth, particularly in the southern region of Odisha.

According to a press release from the Chief Minister's Office, CM Majhi conveyed his appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister Vaishnaw for their unwavering attention to the development of the state.

“The discussions highlighted the construction of the Joda-Badabil and Badabil-Barasuan railway lines, which are projected to establish an industrial corridor linking Badabil, Joda, and Keonjhar. This advancement is expected to generate numerous job opportunities and accelerate the region's development,” stated the CMO.

During the meeting, the Union Minister emphasized the Central government's dedication to Odisha’s progress, mentioning that projects worth Rs 73,000 crore are currently in progress.

Vaishnaw further pointed out that since 2014, Odisha has witnessed the construction of 2,046 km of new railway lines, exceeding the total rail network of Malaysia.

He also stated that the focus includes improving connectivity in tribal and aspirational districts, with eight new lines valued at Rs 20,000 crore approved during the current term of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration.

Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, 59 stations in Odisha are undergoing upgrades, with 16 located in aspirational districts.

As per the CMO, Railway Minister Vaishnaw mentioned that the establishment of the Rayagada Division has commenced, and six Vande Bharat trains are now operational in Odisha.

Vaishnaw reaffirmed that the Central government is committed to further enhancing the state's railway infrastructure in the forthcoming years.
