Chandigarh, Feb 21 (NationPress) - The Punjab Police has dismantled a target killing network with the apprehension of two operatives in Rajpura, located in the Patiala district, announced Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Friday. This operation was linked to the foreign-based criminal Goldy Dhillon.
The suspects have been identified as Malkit Singh, also known as Max, hailing from Rodala village in Amritsar district, and Sandeep Singh, referred to as Deep, from Sirhind in Fatehgarh Sahib district.
Law enforcement officials seized five firearms, including three .32 caliber pistols, one .30 caliber pistol, and one .315 caliber country-made pistol, along with 15 cartridges and 1,300 illicit tablets from their possession.
Additionally, their black Honda Activa Scooter (PB 23 AA 0795) was confiscated.
DGP Yadav noted that initial investigations indicated both suspects were wanted in two extortion cases and were given orders by Goldy Dhillon to carry out target killings in Mohali and Rajpura.
Both individuals have a criminal record, with various charges including violations of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, Arms Act, attempted murder, extortion, robbery, and snatching.
The DGP mentioned that further arrests and discoveries are anticipated in the upcoming days.
Detailing the operation, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nanak Singh stated that the Rajpura Special Cell received intelligence about two operatives of the Goldy Dhillon gang who were on their way to deliver illicit tablets on the Sirhind-Rajpura road, with plans for a target killing in Rajpura.
Acting promptly, the Rajpura Special Cell, led by Inspector Harry Boparai, initiated an intelligence-driven operation, successfully locating and apprehending both suspects while recovering weapons and drugs, he explained.
The SSP added that two prominent individuals, who had received threatening calls from the foreign-based gangster, were the intended targets of the suspects.
