Guwahati, Feb 23 (NationPress) The chief of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Mohan Bhagwat, currently on a five-day tour in Assam, stated on Sunday that five fundamental transformations—social harmony, family values, environmental protection, Swadeshi practices, and civic duties—are essential for societal progress.
During an intellectual session aimed at RSS Karyakartas in Guwahati, he underscored the concept of Panch Parivartan as vital for social evolution.
He pointed out the significance of nurturing friendship and unity among various communities, castes, religions, regions, and languages to foster a harmonious society.
Bhagwat made an important assertion that all Hindu temples, water bodies, and cremation grounds should be integrated in spirit through mutual respect and cooperation.
He also emphasized the importance of promoting family values within households as a way to guide society positively.
The RSS chief reiterated the collective duty of society towards environmental conservation, advocating for initiatives such as water conservation, reducing plastic usage, and tree planting.
He urged every Indian household to adopt Swadeshi practices in their language, attire, food, housing, and travel.
Encouraging a shift away from foreign languages in daily communication, Bhagwat stated: “Regarding our civic duties, we should comply with all state regulations, while also adhering to traditional social moral norms that contribute to societal betterment, which may not be documented in any civic rule book.”
The intellectual event for the RSS Karyakartas in Guwahati took place on Sunday at the South Point School premises in Barshapara, organized by the Guwahati Mahanagar unit of RSS.
Attendees included Bhupesh Sharma, the Sanghchalak of Uttar Assam Prant, and Guruprasad Medhi, the Sanghchalak of the Guwahati Mahanagar unit of RSS, alongside thousands of Sangh Karyakartas.
Bhagwat reached Guwahati on February 21 as part of the ‘Prabas’ initiative, coinciding with the RSS's centenary celebrations (1925-2025).
According to RSS sources, the Sarsanghchalak is also scheduled to hold meetings with Sangh Pracharaks and other dignitaries in Guwahati.
He will depart from Assam for Arunachal Pradesh on February 26 to continue the next phase of Prabas, as stated by Kishor Shivam, Prachar Pramukh of RSS’s Uttar Asom Pranta.
