Belagavi (Karnataka), April 28 (NationPress) In response to the interruption of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's address regarding his contentious 'no war with Pakistan' remark, Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress Chief D.K. Shivakumar issued a warning on Monday that the BJP will not be permitted to host any meetings in the state if such disruptions persist.

Shivakumar spoke to the media following the event in Belagavi.

"The BJP sent its supporters to our protest to wave black flags and cause disturbances. I want to convey to the BJP and opposition leaders — if this conduct continues, we will not allow you to hold even one meeting in the state," he stated.

"This is a commitment from the Congress party," he emphasized.

He urged his supporters to challenge the BJP on the reasons behind the escalating prices of petrol, diesel, gold, iron, and cement, asserting, "We are more capable of fighting you than you are of fighting us in this state," Shivakumar remarked.

Furthermore, he warned, "BJP leaders should instruct their workers to behave appropriately, or we are prepared to counter every protest you stage. This is not a plea — it's a warning," targeting the BJP's actions in the state.

A group of female BJP activists disrupted CM Siddaramaiah's speech at a significant protest meeting organized by the Congress on Monday in Belagavi, opposing the Central government’s policies, including price hikes.

While CM Siddaramaiah was delivering his opening remarks, a faction of BJP women began chanting slogans against him, criticizing his controversial statement about avoiding war with Pakistan.

Earlier, at a protest rally on Monday at the CPED grounds in Belagavi, opposing price increases and advocating for the Constitution, Shivakumar addressed the crowd.

"The hikes in petrol, diesel, and cooking gas prices are the primary contributors to the surge in essential commodity prices. Thus, public outrage should be directed towards the BJP-led Central government," emphasized the Deputy CM.

"We are fighting to defend the Constitution, national unity, integrity, and peace, to protect the common citizens who are suffering due to rising prices. Belagavi is a significant site. We recently commemorated the centenary of Mahatma Gandhi's AICC session here, attended by leaders such as Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Siddaramaiah, and others. On this very ground, we held the 'Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Constitution' rally," he added.

"Our government initiated the guarantee schemes on the first day of our administration. The BJP protests against our government, alleging milk price hikes. Ironically, on the very day they launched their 'Jan Aakrosh' (public outrage) campaign, the Central government increased the prices of petrol, diesel, and cooking gas. As fuel prices rise, it naturally leads to increases in all commodity prices. We raised milk prices by Rs 4 to support farmers, yet the BJP protests, showcasing their 'anti-farmer' attitude. They should direct their anger towards the Central government," he asserted.

"The BJP exploits emotions for political gain, while we work to improve citizens' lives. Our government has not only introduced guarantee schemes but is also engaged in extensive development projects. You must hold BJP leaders accountable for the unprecedented price increases," he urged.

"We are profoundly saddened by the loss of our brothers in terrorist incidents. To uphold national unity and integrity, our party has supported the Central government. Our Chief Minister has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the families of those who tragically lost their lives in Pahalgam. Our government is progressing inclusively with all societal segments," he concluded.
