Kolkata, April 28 (NationPress) The relatives of a junior female doctor from R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital, who tragically fell victim to a horrific rape and murder within the hospital premises last August, made a grave allegation on Monday. They claim that the victim’s mobile number was accessed via WhatsApp while the device was under the control of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

This issue surfaced during a hearing at a special court in Kolkata on Monday afternoon, where the attorney representing the victim’s family presented a written summary of his findings regarding the ongoing CBI investigation. Within this summary, the alarming allegation was highlighted.

The attorney stated that the mobile number of the victim was accessed through WhatsApp a few months after the tragic incident occurred, despite the phone being held by the CBI. Furthermore, her name was reportedly removed from a WhatsApp Group where she had previously been a member.

Initially, the Kolkata Police confiscated the mobile device on the morning of August 9 last year, when the victim’s body was discovered in the seminar hall of the hospital. However, within ten days, the city police transferred the phone to the CBI after the central agency took over the investigation by order of the Calcutta High Court.

During the hearing, the victim’s attorney questioned how access to the victim’s mobile number was possible through WhatsApp when the phone was in CBI custody.

The CBI's attorney argued that the victim’s family could have informed the investigating officials about their concerns. The judge suggested that they should do so.

In response, the victim’s family's attorney informed the court that while they had previously provided the CBI with information, the agency had not communicated any updates regarding the investigation based on the information provided.
