Chennai, March 5 (NationPress) The Tamil Nadu Class 11 Board examinations kick off today, with 8.23 lakh students participating across 3,316 examination centers. These exams are set to run until March 27, beginning with Tamil and various language subjects.

The examination schedule is from 10:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, the state’s School Education Minister, has encouraged students to reach out to the general helpline numbers 94983-83075 and 94983-83076 for any complaints, queries, or clarifications related to the exams.

The state government implemented board exams for Class 11 to guarantee that students grasp vital concepts essential for higher education, especially in fields like engineering and other degree programs.

Minister Poyyamozhi emphasized, “The transition of the Class 11 final exam into a board exam aims to ensure that students engage with the concepts more seriously and in-depth, as they are critical for college-level studies.”

On another note, the Class 12 Board examinations commenced on March 3, with 8.21 lakh students enrolled. These examinations will conclude on March 25.

Furthermore, the Class 10 board examinations are scheduled from March 28 to April 15, with 9.13 lakh students anticipated to take part. In total, over 25.57 lakh students from Classes 10, 11, and 12 will participate in the board exams this year, including 20,746 students with disabilities.

The Department of Government Examinations (DGE) has formed an examination committee in each district, led by the district collector, to guarantee essential facilities like adequate drinking water and a consistent power supply at the examination centers.

Both Class 12 and Class 11 exams will be conducted across 3,316 centers, while Class 10 exams will be held in 4,113 centers. Over 45,000 teachers are designated to various examination duties. More than 4,800 flying squads will be deployed to prevent any malpractice, and a full-time exam control room will function from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on exam days to assist both students and the public.

Moreover, mobile phones are strictly forbidden within exam centers for both students and invigilators. The DGE has provisionally scheduled the Class 12 results for April 9, while the results for Class 11 and Class 10 are set to be announced on April 19.

It's worth noting that the Class 12 board exams in 2024 took place from March 22 to April 13, with 7.72 lakh students participating: 4.1 lakh girls and 3.6 lakh boys. Of these, 3,25,305 boys and 3,93,890 girls successfully passed. The only transgender student who appeared also achieved a passing mark.

In 2024, the Class 11 board exams were conducted from March 4 to March 25, with 8,11,172 students participating: 7,39,539 students passed the examinations. Among 4,26,821 girls who took the exam, 4,04,143 succeeded, while of the 3,84,351 boys, 3,35,396 passed.

The Class 10 board exams in 2024 occurred from March 26 to April 18: 8,94,264 students participated in the SSLC exams, with 8,18,743 students (91.55 percent) passing. Among 4,47,061 female candidates, 4,22,591 (94.55 percent) passed, and of the 4,47,203 boys who took the exams, 3,96,152 (88.58 percent) passed. With stringent measures in place, the Tamil Nadu government aims to ensure a seamless, fair, and transparent examination process for all students.
