Agartala, April 28 (NationPress) The Tripura Police have taken action by apprehending another individual for making anti-national comments related to a social media post concerning the Pahalgam terror attack, according to an official statement.
The suspect, identified as Sameed Miah, resides in Maharani, located in the Gomati district of southern Tripura.
Authorities reported receiving two complaints from the Gomati district concerning inflammatory content shared on social media. One suspect has been arrested, while investigations continue against another.
Miah was captured in the Telkachara area, under the jurisdiction of the Melagarh police station in Sepahijala district, by police from Gomati.
Previously, Tripura Police had detained two individuals—a retired educator and a student leader—in Ambassa, within the Dhalai district of the state, both of whom are currently in custody. Additionally, six other individuals are either under police questioning, being monitored, or undergoing legal proceedings for making inflammatory comments on social media following the April 22 Pahalgam terror incident.
The official noted that the three individuals were charged under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act.
Law enforcement officials have urged the public to refrain from making any controversial or anti-national remarks on social media, particularly regarding sensitive topics that could incite ethnic tensions or disrupt public order.
The authorities have emphasized that severe legal consequences will follow for those who engage in such activities.
