Agartala, Feb 8 (NationPress) The Tripura government organized a two-day ‘Business Conclave-2025’, signing MoUs worth Rs 3700 crore with 87 private investors across the education, healthcare, agriculture, and IT sectors.
Several prominent private sector companies formalized Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) in the presence of Chief Minister Manik Saha, state Industries Minister Santana Chakma, and senior government officials.
In a media briefing, the Chief Minister highlighted the state government's efforts to attract private sector investments from various regions in the country and abroad, citing Tripura's vast reserves of natural gas and diverse forest resources.
Saha noted that investors favor locations characterized by peace and tranquility, emphasizing that the Tripura government is dedicated to providing a supportive environment for businesses.
He assured that companies would encounter hassle-free processes, with Non-Objection Certificates (NOCs) issued within 30 days of application.
Additionally, the state government is offering subsidized power rates for industries.
During the conclave, the Chief Minister introduced an ‘Incentive Calculator’ portal and a ‘Land Bank’ System. The latter aims to assist companies in identifying suitable locations for setting up operations.
Kiran Gitte, the state Industries and Commerce Secretary, mentioned that over 150 industrialists and investors from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, West Bengal, and Assam participated in the two-day ‘Destination Tripura -- Business Conclave-2025’.
He stated that several significant MOUs were established between various investment firms and the Tripura government with the Chief Minister present.
Gitte assured that the government is committed to supporting around 200 startups annually under its startup policy-2025, which was unveiled last month. Furthermore, the state aims to cultivate 3200 model entrepreneurs under the Rising and Accelerating MSME (Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises) performance initiative.
The MSME sector presents substantial opportunities for employment generation and enhancing the rural economy. The Tripura Destination Business Conclave represents an initiative by the state government to inform investors from across the nation about the policies, incentives, and necessary facilities provided by both the state and central governments for investments in this northeastern state.
While inaugurating the ongoing 15-day-long 35th Industries and Commerce fair at the International Fair Ground in Hapania, located on the outskirts of the city, the Tripura Chief Minister stated that the state has emerged as one of the fastest-growing regions in the northeastern part of the country.
He emphasized that the BJP government is implementing a comprehensive plan for the state’s overall development.
“With the current trajectory of progress, no entity can impede Tripura’s advancement. The state’s average domestic product has seen substantial growth compared to previous figures. Tripura now ranks second in per capita income among northeastern states, progressing rapidly,” stated Saha.
He also mentioned that Tripura holds the second position in the eight northeastern states in terms of per capita income and GSDP.
“The state has the potential to conduct business worth Rs 10,000 crore from the Agar tree,” Saha remarked during an address.
Meanwhile, the Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Ministry has organized eight ‘Northeast Trade and Investment Roadshows’ across various parts of the country, including Mumbai, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Delhi, and Kolkata, to showcase the resources and potential of the northeastern states.
The DoNER Ministry recently held its last ‘North East Trade and Investment Roadshow’ in Chennai, inaugurated by DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, inviting investors and industrialists to be part of the transformative journey of the ‘Ashtalakshmi’ region, aiming to become a leading engine of growth for India.
The Chennai roadshow marked the eighth event in this ongoing series, featuring presentations from all eight northeastern states: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.
